Info

Built during the latter part of the 3rd century, this castle was occupied until circa AD 370.  King Richard II began converting Portchester Castle into a small palace in the late 14th century and much of this building remains, including the hall, kitchen and great chamber, albeit in ruins.

The 12th century church of St Mary can be seen inside the castle walls.
